Solve problems that matter.
We turn global problems into simple, creative briefs, that make it easy for anyone, like you, to come up with solutions.
At Open Briefs, we believe a good brief can change the world.
If you’ve ever worked in the creative industry, you know the power of a clear, well-written brief - and how quickly things fall apart without one. That’s why we teamed up with some of the best agencies and brands in the world to bring ‘the art of great brief writing’ to real challenges charities and communities face every day. Our hope is that by making problems clearer to the public, we can draw on those many fresh perspectives to generate novel solutions.
We don’t just need to solve problems,
we need to solve the right problems.
In this example of the ‘Five Whys’ the problem we’re trying to solve seems obvious at first and ideas flow. Only when we begin to unpack all aspects of the problem do we begin to see the real solutions that will make a long-term difference.
Stories that inspire us:
Lightbulb moments are everywhere.
In 2002 a Brazilian mechanic invented a lightbulb using only plastic bottles, water and bleach. The idea of the "Moser lamp" came to Alfredo Moser during one of the many blackouts in Uberaba, Brazil. Link
Don’t just lend a hand, teach people to make their own.
Project Daniel is the world’s first 3D-printing prosthetic lab, set up by Not Impossible founder Mick Ebeling after he saw footage of a teenager who lost both arms when a bomb went off while he was tending his parents’ cattle. "Our goal was not to just make Daniel an arm, but to ensure that the local community was empowered and equipped to make limbs for anyone in the community, long after we left.” Link
